So, after graduating from Huntingdon I worked in the restaurant biz for a while and planned to go to graduate school to get my Masters in Music. After about a year long lapse after graduating, I decided that I would rather take my life in a different direction and go to Nursing School. I don't quite remember the moment I decided that, or why, I just did. So, I went to AUM for about a year getting the necessary pre-requisites out of the way, and I applied for nursing school at AUM. At the same time I heard about a special program at the University of South Alabama in Mobile in which I could get my nursing degree in a year due to having a previous bachelor's degree. If I went to AUM for school, I would not have been done for 2 or 3 years. So, I got into USA, and Michael had planned to come down with me to live in Mobile. However, at the same time he got a mega promotion at work. After much discussion, we decided that the program was too great of an opportunity to pass up, so I went by myself while Michael stayed in Montgomery so that we could pay the bills. The year flew by, and we got used to seeing each other only on the weekends. All in all, it wasn't so bad. I graduated in July, and got a job almost immediately in Montgomery. It seems that Montgomery is one of the only places in the state that is still hiring new nurses. A lot of people I graduated with are having trouble finding jobs. I've been working for a few weeks at Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery, and I like it so far. I will be starting to work the night shift in a couple of weeks, but I don't think it will be so bad. It's great to be getting a paycheck again!
Also, my step-mom had a baby boy in December, so that's pretty big news too. He's so cute and probably the happiest baby that I've ever known! That's about it for me now.

This has been possibly the worst vacation ever. Aside from being sick and having to get 5 stitches, Michael and I lost one of our beloved babies. It is really hard for me to write about this, but I think that it might be good for me. Please excuse me if this all seems a little silly to some of you, but I hope that many people can sympathize. And what better way to relieve your soul than to bare everything on lj?

The day before we left to have Christmas with my mom, Zelda started to get frisky with Gizmo, and we realized that it was time for her to be spayed. Since my mom is a vet, we took her to my house and left her there to be spayed on Wednesday. Well, my mom performed the surgery yesterday, but it seems that Zelda's body could not handle it, and she passed away. Of course my mom feels terrible, and I have been a mess since my mom told me. She did all that she could, and I don't blame her. Even though this kind of thing has never happened to her before, it seems that Zelda must have had a weak heart. I don't really know what made me decide to post this, but I felt that I had to do something for her. I am missing her almost all of the time now, and I feel especially bad for Gizmo, who lost his best bud. She wasn't with us long, but, somehow, she seems to have made a great impact on our lives. She was our baby.

So, we had Christmas at my Mother-In-Law's today. I got some really cool stuff, including the coveted Special Edition Digitally Remastered "The Wizard of Oz" DVD :) However, the best present that I got came from my husband. He is the sweetest man alive. We weren't going to get presents for each other, but he got me something and he said I would never guess what it was. Well, I didn't, but I was so surprised! There is a story behind this that only some might appreciate. When I was a kid, Christmas was usually not so much about getting what I wanted, but what my parents thought that I needed or didn't need. Needless to say, I experienced quite a few lackluster Christmas seasons. In Michael's family, it is all about getting what you want, so he never really understood my parent's perspective on gift-giving, and I guess he kinda felt sorry for me. Almost everytime we discuss the Christmas past, I always mention one thing that I asked for on more than one Christmas list when I was a kid...Moon Shoes! I don't know why I wanted them so badly. Maybe because as a kid I wanted to be an astronaut, and they were apparently similar to walking on the moon...or something like that. So, I never got them as a kid, and in some small way this trauma has perhaps left me less than fulfilled. Anyway, I opened my gift from him today and I was so surprised that I even, embarassingly, broke into joyous, awe-inspired tears. BEST CHRISTMAS EVER!!! So yeah, this isn't really meant to be an I love Michael puff-piece, but there aren't that many people who love me who would go to such lengths. Hell, even the woman who incubated me couldn't hack it. I hope that this story has brought a little more merry to Christmas. If you were in doubt that true love existed, this is the proof!
